15-year-old charged as adult in shooting near FAMU stadium injures 12
A teen faces 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder after a shooting near Florida A&M University.
A 15-year-old boy, Anthony Rivers III, was charged as an adult Monday in connection with a shooting near Florida A&M University's stadium that injured a dozen people, including several children, WUSF reported.
Rivers faces 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a delinquent, according to the report. During his first court appearance, a judge approved sealing the arrest records as the investigation continues.
State Attorney Jack Campbell said police are still gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. He urged anyone with information, especially photos or videos of the incident, to contact the Tallahassee Police Department.
Campbell expressed frustration about the limited surveillance footage available, attributing it to decisions by local leaders that have slowed video capabilities. He emphasized the importance of surveillance in cases like this.
One victim remains in critical condition following the shooting, which has prompted calls for justice and better community safety measures.
