The National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Warning for Charleston and coastal Colleton counties until 11 AM Thursday, citing expected flooding of one to two feet above ground level along shorelines and tidal waterways.

A High Surf Advisory is also in effect until 2 PM Thursday, with large breaking waves between 1 and 4 feet in the surf zone, creating hazardous swimming and surfing conditions.

Additionally, a High Rip Current Risk remains through Thursday evening, with dangerous currents capable of pulling swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

The NWS advises that saltwater inundation may render many roads impassable and cause property flooding. High tide is expected around 8:18 AM, with flooding possible one to two hours before and after this time.

Residents and visitors should exercise caution near beaches and avoid entering the water due to the risk of rip currents and strong surf.

The warnings aim to help the public stay safe during this period of elevated coastal flooding and hazardous ocean conditions.
