Coastal flood warning in effect for San Diego County through Thursday afternoon
National Weather Service warns of significant coastal flooding and road closures during high tides in San Diego County.
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for San Diego County coastal areas, effective from 5 a.m. Sunday until 1 p.m. Thursday during high tides, according to the NWS San Diego office.
Significant coastal flooding is expected, with tides ranging from 1 to 1.7 feet above predicted levels. This may result in numerous road closures and inundation of low-lying properties including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure.
Some shoreline erosion is also anticipated, particularly during the morning hours. Residents in the affected coastal areas are advised to remain alert for rising water levels and take appropriate measures to protect life and property.
High tides will occur each morning during the warning period. The NWS recommends coastal residents follow safety guidance and stay informed about changing conditions.
