Detective reopens 1983 cold case of stabbed Los Angeles teen girl
A Los Angeles County detective is revisiting the unsolved 1983 murder of a 17-year-old girl to seek justice for her family.
KTLA reported that the brutal murder of a 17-year-old girl in Los Angeles County has remained unsolved for over 40 years. The teenage girl, Kristina Rosenberger, was found stabbed to death underneath her bed inside her home in Artesia in December 1983.
Her family has been haunted by the mystery of who killed her and why, and now a detective has reopened the cold case in hopes of providing answers and justice, KTLA said.
On the night of the murder, Kristina's boyfriend came to the home concerned because he could not find her. Her brother and boyfriend checked a hospital but did not find her, and upon returning home, law enforcement was waiting. Kristina's body was discovered partially under the bed, covered by blankets, KTLA reported.
The case has deeply affected her family, with her brother recalling that their mother was never the same after the discovery. The detective assigned to the case is determined to solve it despite the passage of time and the challenges cold cases present.
KTLA noted that as time passes, the chances of solving cold cases diminish, but hope and determination remain among loved ones and law enforcement.
The detective's renewed investigation aims to bring closure to Kristina's family and possibly identify the perpetrator decades after the crime took place.
