Henrico schools facilities director retires amid HVAC issues
Henrico County Schools' facilities director Susan Moore retired as the department restructures amid ongoing HVAC problems.
Susan Moore, the director of facilities for Henrico County Schools, retired on October 8 amid ongoing HVAC issues in the school division, NBC12 and WTVR CBS 6 reported. Moore had served as the division's director of facilities for nine years, according to her LinkedIn profile.
The retirement followed a restructuring of the Office of Facilities announced by the new Chief of Operations, Greg Dunaway. This restructuring includes creating separate leadership roles for facilities operations and capital projects, as reported by CBS 6.
Emails to Moore regarding HVAC needs often went unanswered as problems accumulated, leading the school division to remove facilities and HVAC maintenance from her duties last month. A job posting for her replacement was posted the day after the restructuring.
The timing of Moore's retirement coincided with a CBS 6 investigation into HVAC challenges across Henrico schools. During an interview, Dunaway expressed confidence in the facilities operation as a whole but did not directly comment on Moore's leadership.
Henrico County Schools continues to address HVAC issues while recruiting for two new director positions to oversee the restructured facilities department.
