Hilary Rosen named new chair of BAFTA
Hilary Rosen succeeds Sara Putt as BAFTA chair, overseeing film, games, and television talent development.
BAFTA has appointed Hilary Rosen as its new chair, succeeding Sara Putt who stepped down after a three-year term, Variety reported. Rosen previously served as deputy chair and will now lead the organization’s mission to support film, games, and television talent through awards and development programs.
Rosen has been involved with BAFTA’s television committee since 2021 and played a key role in shaping the TV and Craft Awards, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Outside BAFTA, she is the director of commissioning at UKTV, overseeing original scripted and unscripted content.
Supporting Rosen as deputy chairs will be Ade Rawcliffe and Andrew Miller, both serving two-year terms, Deadline noted. The BAFTA Board of Trustees also welcomed new chairs for its committees: Charu Desodt for games, Caroline Levy for television, and Nahrein Kemp for the LIT committee.
Charu Desodt brings over 25 years of industry experience and has been involved with major gaming companies and BAFTA juries. Caroline Levy will lead the television committee, while Shrina Shah, chair of governance and appointments, joins the board as well, Variety added.
Rosen expressed enthusiasm for her new role, highlighting her passion for promoting screen arts and talent across the screen industries, Hollywood Reporter reported. The new leadership team aims to continue building on BAFTA’s impactful work.
