Rock Hill teachers support former student after deadly house fire
South Pointe High School educators help graduate rebuild after losing mother in fire.
A recent graduate of South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina, is receiving support from his former teachers after a house fire claimed his mother's life and destroyed his belongings, WBTV reported.
The fire occurred on Maple Street late on October 21, with firefighters arriving to heavy flames. Both the graduate and his mother were hospitalized, but his mother died from her injuries.
The graduate's former special education teachers, Erin Poepping and Myra Hargrove, have stepped in to assist him during this difficult time. They are helping him arrange a celebration of life for his mother and providing a place to stay.
Poepping has also started a GoFundMe to help replace lost belongings and is working to get him back into school. She emphasized their ongoing commitment to support him beyond the classroom.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the school community is focused on helping the young man rebuild his life after the tragedy.
