WBTV’s First Alert Weather Team has launched a new initiative called Lunchbox Weather, bringing weather science lessons directly to classrooms in the Charlotte region, WBTV reported.

On October 21, meteorologist Eric Garlick visited third-grade students at St. Gabriel’s Catholic School in Charlotte to teach them about weather science through presentations and demonstrations, according to WBTV.

The program aims to inspire curiosity about weather among students by providing unique learning sessions that include possible demonstrations and giveaways, such as special First Alert Weather lunchboxes, WBTV said.

Parents and schools interested in having a First Alert meteorologist visit can request a visit by filling out a form on WBTV’s website, as the team continues to engage with the community to educate the next generation about weather and its impact.

This initiative reflects the First Alert Weather Team’s commitment to educating local communities about weather, regardless of the season, WBTV noted.
