The National Aquarium in Baltimore announced plans to eliminate 30 positions starting January 1, 2027, as part of a strategic restructuring effort, FOX45 Baltimore reported.

Aquarium President and CEO Jennifer Driban said the changes will include adjustments to job titles, responsibilities, and department structures, with some new positions to be added, though the exact number was not specified.

Driban cited rising costs for materials, services, and utilities, coupled with operating revenue growth that has not kept pace, as reasons for the workforce changes.

The nonprofit aquarium is facing economic challenges similar to other organizations in the region and nationwide, prompting the need to reorganize its staff and departments to adapt to current financial conditions.
