Russell Brand, an actor and comedian, was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault by a jury at Southwark Crown Court in London, according to CBS Entertainment and other outlets. The verdict followed a trial in which Brand faced multiple charges including three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one attempted indecent assault charge.

The jury acquitted Brand of two rape charges and the attempted indecent assault charge, as reported by Hollywood Reporter and Variety. The allegations involved incidents spanning from 1999 to 2009 and included accusations from six women.

Judge Joel Bennathan stated Brand would receive a significant custodial sentence and denied him bail, remanding him into custody until his sentencing hearing scheduled for Monday, according to CBS Entertainment and Variety. Brand was described as a flight risk by the judge.

During the trial, Brand denied the charges and testified about his past promiscuity but denied forcing anyone against their will, as noted by CBS Entertainment. The prosecution characterized him as a manipulative sexual predator.

Sky News reported that the Metropolitan Police are investigating further allegations against Brand. The sentencing will take place on Monday, where the length of Brand's prison term will be determined.
