One arrested, another sought in Gainesville Walmart shooting that killed innocent bystander
Police arrested one suspect and continue searching for a second after a fatal shooting outside a Gainesville Walmart.
Gainesville police arrested an 18-year-old man, Kamari Nehemiah Tilmuth, following a fatal shooting outside a Walmart in Gainesville, Georgia, earlier this week, according to FOX 5 Atlanta and Atlanta News First. The arrest was made by the Hall County SWAT team executing a search warrant Sunday morning.
Authorities are still seeking a second suspect, 17-year-old Erron Lamar Dorsey, who remains at large. Both suspects face charges including felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a crime, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta and Atlanta News First.
The incident occurred Wednesday evening when a fight broke out between two groups of males inside the Walmart and spilled into the parking lot. During the confrontation, Tilmuth and Dorsey allegedly opened fire on one group, police said.
James Edward McDaniel was walking out of the store at the opposite end of the parking lot when he was struck by stray bullets and killed. Police emphasized that McDaniel was an innocent bystander not involved in the altercation, according to FOX 5 Atlanta and Atlanta News First.
Authorities have urged the public not to approach Dorsey if seen and encouraged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Gainesville Police Department tip line or submit tips online.
